I remember when I first started painting a portrait in art school.  We started with charcoal drawings done from a live model.  The process was very frustrating to me because the expressions that showed a persons personality  were so fleeting.

 

I purchased my first good camera and took a photography course so that I could learn to capture those fleeting expressions for my paintings.  Little did I know how addictive photography would become.  Eventually, I discovered how to create with the camera the images that I wanted to paint......
